⭐ Introduction to Parts of Speech

Grammar is the structure that gives meaning and effectiveness to language, which is a system of communication. Words in English grammar are categorized according to their purpose and function inside sentences. The Parts of Speech are the names given to these categories.

The English language's primary speech components are:

 Noun

✨ Pronoun

✨ Verb

 Adjective

 Adverb

✨ Preposition

✨ Conjunction:

✨ Interjection

Because it names people, places, things, ideas, or emotions, the noun is frequently referred to as the "naming word" among these. Since practically every sentence needs a noun or pronoun to make sense, nouns are among the most basic components of English sentences.

1. What is a Pronoun? (Definition)

A Pronoun is a word used in place of a noun to avoid repetition of the same noun again and again.

👉 Instead of repeating the name many times, we use a pronoun such as he, she, it, they, you, I, we, your, my, etc.

👉 Example:

Without pronoun:

  • Riya is a good girl. Riya helps her mother. Riya studies well.

With pronoun:

  • Riya is a good girl. She helps her mother. She studies well.

Here, She replaces Riya → This makes the sentence clean and easy.

2. Why Do We Use Pronouns? (Importance)

Reason Explanation Example
To avoid repetition Repeating names sounds boring  Rahul likes cricket. He plays daily.
To make sentences short  Helps in communication The teacher said she will help.
To hide identity Instead of direct names Someone stole the purse.
To show ownership Who the object belongs to This pen is mine.
To show position Person/person number We are happy.

✔ Pronouns make language smooth and natural.
